Sawt Al-Amal (Voice of Hope) – Alia Mohammed

The tremendous progress in technology has contributed to the development of modern communication tools and means. Today, the world is living in the era of technology and social media. With the emergence of social media platforms, promotion and marketing have become easier and more cost-effective, with faster reach. These platforms have provided new capabilities that contribute to information exchange, social relationships, and the dissemination of organizational work and job opportunities.

According to a report by the digital platform “keef up,” Facebook is the most widely used social media platform worldwide, with an estimated 2.96 billion monthly active users. YouTube has 2.2 billion monthly active users, Instagram has 2 billion monthly active users, while 237 million users are active on the X platform (formerly known as Twitter), and 420 million users are active on LinkedIn.

Attracting Users

Managing social media platforms is one of the most important steps in attracting users to organizations and institutions. It plays a significant role in familiarizing users with the organization and its work, which increases the chances of gaining support.

Ali Mohammed, an electronic marketer and social media management specialist, believes that “Social media platforms are of great importance in attracting users to organizations and institutions. Organizations create specialized pages on social media platforms where they share relevant content about their activities. They also publish photos, videos, and articles that reflect what they offer, engaging followers by responding to comments, listening to their feedback, and improving customer relations.”

He adds, “Marketing through social media helps convey the message of the organization or institution, attracts new followers, and facilitates reaching those in need of support by providing immediate responses to their problems and offering assistance.”

He points out that many organizations and institutions use social media platforms to showcase their most significant achievements and activities. This enhances awareness of the issues addressed by these organizations, ultimately attracting new followers.

A Broad Gateway for Job Seekers

Social media platforms are among the most effective tools for recruiting users, and they provide an interactive space for posting job vacancies and quickly disseminating them. They allow users the opportunity to share all the details about their professional history, as well as showcase their skills and experiences.

Social media enables large and small companies and organizations to reach a large number of job seekers by publishing advertisements and job vacancies on these platforms.

LinkedIn is one of the main platforms that houses professionals and job seekers from various fields. The platform allows users to upload their resumes and specify their professional experiences. Meanwhile, Facebook features groups dedicated to showcasing job vacancies, which many institutions and organizations use to advertise vacant positions. The platform also allows for sponsored ads to promote users’ businesses.

X platform, formerly known as “Twitter,” is one of the fastest and direct ways to search for job opportunities. It includes influencers from different fields and enables users to use hashtags to search for jobs. Instagram helps in obtaining distinctive employment opportunities as it focuses on visual and artistic work.

Sama Al-Nawar, a recent graduate, says, “Social media provides wonderful opportunities if used professionally and effectively. Many young graduates turn to these platforms to search for job opportunities and vacancies. Many opportunities come through them because they are fast-spreading tools that save a lot of time and effort compared to visiting companies and institutions, submitting resumes, and waiting for a response.”

She adds, “Several organizations and institutions publish job vacancies through links and share posts with many friends.”

In a related context, Hussein Awad, a social media user, points out that social media has become a gateway for many job seekers due to its ease of use and low cost. These platforms allow users to showcase their professional experiences to a larger number of companies with less time and effort compared to traditional methods.

Difficulties & Challenges

Workers in digital marketing and social media management for institutions and organizations face a number of challenges. Digital marketer Ali Mohammed says, “Organizations and institutions may not succeed in selecting attractive and diverse content that suits social media platforms, attracts users, and meets their needs. This requires organizations and institutions to be aware of the most important changes, identify trends, and utilize tools that facilitate dealing with these changes.”

He points out that the competition on social media is very intense and requires a great deal of professional work and extreme precision. It is necessary to find distinctive features that differentiate them from other institutions and organizations and highlight them. He says, “The absence of a well-thought-out marketing plan leads to the failure of promoting and marketing organizations and institutions and affects the ability to efficiently manage social media. There must be a carefully chosen marketing plan that determines the desired marketing goal.”
